We love to eat. Good food.

1 note

We’ve showcased her food before, and we’re so impressed we’re show casing it again. If you didnt get a chance to read our earlier blog post on Tamara’s wonderfully delicious Palestinian cooking, then please do yourself a favor and read it. You can thank us later.

I recently had the honor of joining my friend Tamara at her house for dinner. Her cooking never disapoints, and hopefully after reading this post she will invite me over more often :)

Now, i’m not just saying this because shes my friend, but seriously no surprise here. The food was delicious and my love-o-meter was off the charts. Her cooking embodies what cooking is supposed to be. Her passion for cooking is translated on the plate perfectly. Every bite is full of love, with no short cuts when it comes to Tamara. I only wish she opened up a restaurant so you all could try the love, dedication, and passion that goes into her food. It truly is the perfect ‘home cooked meal.’

Some of the dishes I tried included a lentil soup with spring onions, homemade pita chips, and a dash of lemon for garnish. This soup is the perfect appetizer. No joke, I could literally eat it every single day. Paired with the pita chips, onions, and lemon, the strong lentil flavor of the soup compliments the lemon perfectly. The pita chips and onions give the soup a nice crunch with the smoothness of the soup.

The next dish is what I like to call “Palestinian Biryani.” If you’re from the sub-continent, or are familiar with Indo-Pak cuisine, than you’ve heard of biryani. It’s meat and rice. Now, the palestinian version of this takes biryani to the next level. Tamara’s version is made with chicken and includes vegetables like eggplant, bell pepper, carrots and peas. It’s also topped with roasted pinenuts and almonds. I love rice dishes, so no surprise why I love this dish. The added nuts and vegetables in the dish really enhance the flavor of the rice. Plus, I get my veggies in, so no complaints here.

A new dish I tried at Tamara’s house is another rice dish, which i’d compared to Indo-Pak “Palow meets kitchiri.” This dish is chicken and rice mixed together topped with a garlic yogurt sauce. It is then topped with cilantro, pinenuts, and almonds.

Tamara also served an eggplant with ground beef dish covered with the same garlic yogurt and topped with cilantro, pinenuts, and almonds. I love eggplant and by adding meat, you can only make vegetables better. This dish is absolutelly fantastic.

The final dish is a baked dish of kabob, potatoes, and tomatoes in a tahini sauce. I’d say its the Middle Eastern take on the classic ‘meat and potatoes’ with a little but of tahnini. Yet again, another delicious dish.
