Bay Eats

We love to eat. Good food.

Bi-Rite Creamery in San Francisco.
Featured here is one of Bi-Rite’s more notorious creations known as Sam’s Sundae: chocolate ice cream with bergamot olive oil, maldon sea salt, and whipped cream. We saw this treat on Food Network’s show, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.” Now, let us be honest.. we LOVE Bi-Rite, but Sam’s Sundae definitely only for the adventurous. It didn’t please our palate all that much; We enjoyed the sea salt and chocolate ice cream, but the addition of olive oil was a little too exotic for us. Most of the flavors we’ve tried at Bi-Rite are funky, fresh, and fun. With flavors ranging from Vanilla, Roasted Banana, Honey Lavender, Balsamic Strawberry, and Mint Chocolate Chip, there’s something there for the uber-adventurous and the ultra-safe. Our favorites include Creme Fraiche and Brown Sugar with Ginger Caramel Swirl (expect a picture of our favorite later this week). To sum it up, Bi-Rite is a delightful treat not to be missed in San Francisco’s Mission District. Next time you’re in San Francisco, grab a scoop of ice cream and head to the sunny, grassy hills of Dolores Park, which is right around the corner.
