We love to eat. Good food.

Danville, California: A small town with a big appetite.

If you’re looking for a new breakfast, lunch, or brunch spot, i’d recommend The Little Pear in Blackhawk Plaza. The atmosphere is delectable and the food is delicious. If you get the chance to visit the posh bistro you will be in for a treat. Unlike sideboard (one of our favorites) this brunch spot is California/American meets European cuisine. The food is fresh, healthy, and light! It’s perfect for those health conscious individuals and for those of you in the mood for something delicious, but not over the top greasy. The Little Pear’s not so little menu specializes in a variety of egg dishes, omlettes and overall breakfast favorites from quiche to pancakes. The Little Pear also serves lunch and dinner, but i’ll review those items in another post.

The dishes I got the chance to sample were the breakfast burrito (sans meat), bagels and lox, and the french toast. I’d have to say my favorite was the breakfast burrito, mostly because i’d choose savory over sweet any day. The burrito was stuffed with seasoned potatoes, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, jack cheese and topped with enchilada sauce and sour cream! The french toast were good, but not traditional. It was made on a thick crusty sourdough-french bread, which was a nice change from soggy french toast. However, I will admit I think I like the soggy version better, but it was a nice change of pace to try a bite or two of the french toast as I ate my massive burrito. If I were ever in a healthy-ish mood, i’d definitely pick the bagel and lox. The dish was predictable and with ordering it I knew what to expect: A large bagel topped with house-cured Scottish salmon, cream cheese, thinly sliced red onions and capers. The dish is served with a side of fresh fruit. In my opinion, the bagel and lox is the perfect weekday breakfast item, it’s light enough that I can eat it without falling into a food coma.

Overall, the Little Pear is a delicious treat. The food is decent, but what really earns points for this cute little restaurant is the location. I enjoyed my breakfast Sunday morning while sitting outside. The atmosphere of Blackhawk Plaza never disappoints.
